2017 hope & grace Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands
Santa Lucia Highlands

The Santa Lucia Highlands is one of our preferred growing regions for Pinot Noir due to the elevated, mountainside perch and its close proximity to the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean. The Doctor's Vineyard is planted on the terraces of the Santa Lucia mountain range, overlooking the Salinas River Valley. Here, the fog and breezes off nearby Monterey Bay funnel southeast, between the Santa Lucia and Gabilan ranges, creating a cool, true Region 1 climate. The vines elevated site takes full advantage of the morning sunshine before the brisk afternoon maritime winds slow down photosynthesis, making for long and gentle ripening. The exceptionally long SLH growing season of early bud break, lack of fall rains and prolonged harvest allow the grapes to develop full, phenolic ripeness and flavors.
Winemaker Notes: Lush aromas of sweet cherries, ripe raspberries, and black currants mingle with delicate rose petals, warm brown sugar, and cinnamon. A concentrated wave of vibrant red fruit envelops the palate, leading to a long, luxurious finish.
